Meet the staff of Chase Farms...
Colleen Fitzpatrick

Colleen Fitzpatrick

Colleen Fitzpatrick is the owner and trainer at Chase Farms.

Colleen started riding when she was six years old and rode hunt seat and eventing, "My parents bought me my first pony, a POA named Tessa, that I showed hunt seat, saddle seat and jumped as a kid; I owned her for 20 years. At 12, my parents bought me my first Saddlebread and I started riding saddle seat. I saw a Saddlebread for the first time, at a country fair show in New Hampshire and loved it! I kept showing my pony and Saddlebread until I was 15, and then my parents bought me my first equitation horse, Superfine's Gold."

At 17, Colleen purchased her first five-gaited star, Unobtainable, and showed and won at Spring Premiere, Connecticut Summer Classic, Syracuse International and Eastern States. After two seasons showing, Colleen decided to breed her, and her parents purchased CH Starlike Jubilee in 1998. Colleen showed in five-gaited pleasure and won at Eastern States, Deerfield Fair, Reserve at Kansas City, Raleigh Spring Premiere, Connecticut Summer Classic, Twin State Saddlebred, Cleveland Classic, and I was top three at Louisville." "In 1997, I was top three at Louisville in Adult Equitation on WC Spirit Rogers, and Reserve at Kentucky Fall Classic with Santana's Miracle, owned by Sandra Wynock. Since I was 15 I have known Gary Guz, and I went to work for him in 2001. We raised horses such as WC The Mighty Moe, RWC The Legend of Troy, and showed horses such as RWC CH La Wing Victory, WC CH Simbara's Samba Jamb and CH Rastafarian. Other great stars I have worked include WC Rock The Jukebox, CH Cheer Me On, CH Ridgefield's Excessive, CH Lakeside Lulu, A Beautiful Stranger OCF, Titleist Patrick, Mastercraft Gamber, Time to Dance and Truely So Lovely. I have been so lucky and very fortunate to have met and become good friends with Joan Hamilton and Larry Hodge of Kalarama Farm. I truly appreciate all their support, encouragement and friendship over the past five years. And of course, my two Bassett Hounds, Annabelle and Mulder, are the Chase Farms mascots and I take them everywhere with me."

Colleen is the daughter of Richard and Cheryl Fitzpatrick. She was born an drained in Whitman Mass., and her parents have supported her throughout her life with everything she has ever done and they continue to be her biggest fans! Co lens older brother, Richard Fitzpatrick, is an attorney in Boston and owns the Fitzpatrick & Associates Attorney's at Law firm. He is married, lives in Boston and has a two-year-old son named Chase Anthony Fitzpatrick. The farm is named after him.

Joy Ruma

Joy Ruma is the assistant trainer and instructor.

Joy grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. She received her Associates in Graphic Design in 2002, her BFA from the University of Massachusetts in 2006, and her master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern New Hampshire in 2011. "I have worked with my current group of riders for over five years. For the past two years, I have worked as the instructor and assistant trainer at Chase Farms, under the direction of Colleen Fitzpatrick. We are dedicated to our horses and riders and love what we do."

Joy was introduced to riding by her Aunt, who showed her Morgan, Worthington Mahogany, at Red Oak Farm in North Andover, MA with Margaret and Neil Patenaude. Joy rode with them consistently for 23 years. "They taught me many invaluable lessons. I believe that one of the greatest compliments I can give them is to pass on the knowledge I was given to the next generation" Over the years, there has been other outstanding riders from Red Oak Farm including Sally Lindabury, Judy Howard Cox, Bill Beckley, John Whalen, Todd and Glen Mathieson, Cheryl Innis, Judy Rutter and Cindy Watson. Red Oak Farm show stars include CH Sky Flight, CH Lexitalia, All American Boy, Why Worry Blackbird, Mr. Chairman Sir and Irma La Fancy.
